Seven Habits of Powerful Leaders
1.  Leading is Not Managing

“You manage things, but you lead people.”     (Grace Hooper, Adm. U.S. Navy)

Have an open dialog  =  communicate  =  learn from each other

2.  Leaders Have Courage

“Being on the tightrope is living. Everything else is waiting.”   (Karl Wallenda, Tightrope Walker)

Take risks! Business is not always going to be smooth – it has ups and downs.

3.  Leaders Have a Sense of Purpose

“It’s not where the puck is that counts. It’s where the puck will be.”     (Wayne Gretzky)

Position yourself to score and win!
  What needs to change?

4.  Leaders are Consistent

“Each success only buys an admission ticket to a more difficult problem.”      (Henry Kissinger)

  Don’t stop  -  continue  -  press forward!

5.  Leaders Concentrate on BIG Things

“Incrementalism is innovation worst enemy.”     (Nicholas Negraponte, “Being Digital”)

  Have courage!
  Growing pains come with change.

6.  Leaders are Made – Not Born

“Success in life comes not from holding a good hand, but from playing a poor hand well.”     (Denis Waitley)

We all have ups and downs – how you react is what is important!

Old Chinese Saying =  “Fall down 8 times, get up 9.”

7.  Leaders Know how to Laugh

“Don’t take life too seriously, because I guarantee you won’t get out of it alive.”

Don’t let the little things get you down – keep proper perspective!
